Escape Road 2
A bank job just went down, the robber dives into your car, and the rest is on you. Escape Road 2 is a free browser driving game where you play the getaway driver trying to lose the police across a busy city.
The whole thing rides on control. Floor it and you wrap yourself around a building. Crawl and the squad cars box you in. Most of the game lives in that narrow gap in between.
What is Escape Road 2?
Escape Road 2 is a top-down chase game. You drive a single car through city streets while police close in from every direction, and your only job is to keep moving and not get cornered. The further you get, the harder the pursuit, until helicopters show up overhead and there is nowhere quiet left to drive. Rewards you grab during a run go toward upgrading your car so the next attempt goes faster and lasts longer.
How to play
Pick up the robber, then drive. The controls are small, which is the point. Everything hard about the game is in the steering, not the button layout.
Desktop controls
- A, S, D or the left, down, and right arrow keys to drive and steer
- Spacebar to get out of the car or back in
- Reverse to back out of a corner before the police seal it off
Surviving the chase
The danger is rarely the police car right behind you. It is the wall you are about to clip and the alley that turns out to be a dead end.
Watch your speed in tight streets. Crashes happen, and sometimes you cannot avoid one, but a quick reverse and a hard turn can get you out before the cars swarm. When helicopters join in, the pressure jumps, so plan a route with room to move instead of charging into the nearest gap.
In some spots you can ditch the car and run on foot. It is an option, not an escape button. The police are quick and they do not give up, so leaving the car only works if you already have distance.
Rewards and upgrades
Rewards you collect mid-chase carry over into upgrades for your car. A faster, better-handling car buys you more time before the police catch up, which means a longer run, which means more rewards. Each attempt feeds the next one, so an early crash still pays off if you grabbed enough on the way down.
Tips for a longer run
- Treat the brake and the reverse as real tools, not panic buttons. Slowing into a turn beats overshooting it.
- Avoid streets that funnel into a single exit. The police use those to trap you.
- Grab rewards that are on your path. Detouring into traffic for one pickup usually ends the run.
- Once helicopters appear, stop taking risky shortcuts and just keep clean distance.
- Only bail out of the car when you already have a gap. On foot you are slower than the cars chasing you.
What makes it hard
The simple controls hide a game about reading the road two seconds ahead. You are not fighting the police so much as fighting your own speed and the city's geometry. Get greedy and you crash. Get cautious and you get surrounded. Finding the line between the two, run after run, is the whole game.
